How To Get Started

How Do I Start?

1) Choose the remedy you feel you need the most right now. Read the complete description and see if what you read resonates with your current situation.

2) Use it with your preferred self-supporting modalities or mindfulness practices. Things like meditation, EFT tapping, breath work, and other self-supporting modalities should be a part of your discovery process.

3) Be aware of the changes you feel in yourself. Develop mindfulness around what you are experiencing, using things like meditation, reflective or expressive writing, or dialoguing with a trusted guide to help your process of discovery.

When you feel you have reached a place of improvement with your first choice of remedies, choose another and then repeat the process. Change and transformation is a often a process of “un-layering.” When you feel that you have conquered one challenge, it may be time to add a new remedy to your process.

What Will I Experience?

The first time you use one of the Qualities of Self Remedies, you may experience one of two things:

1) An immediate experience of the positive emotions you desire.

2) A “triggering” of old emotional baggage that stands in the way of having those positive emotions.

If this happens, you can respond by using one of  your self-supporting tools to help you move through and release the old emotions that block your positive emotions.

Using the remedies in combination may also be beneficial. For instance, you may be experiencing more than one emotional issue. Sadness and anxious feelings often show up together. This would be a good time to use both the Hope remedy and the Calm remedy. If you are finding it difficult to stay grounded in the present when you feel anxious, you could also add Connection. This applies to all of the remedies, as they complement each other.

If you feel you are moving through your issues too quickly, take a break from the remedies until you feel more in control of the process, or try adding other complementary and supportive remedies. *

If you become unable to manage your emotional journey process safely, you should discontinue use of the remedies and seek the help of a facilitator or other mental health care professional.
